CARTOON FORUM 2020: FULL DIGITAL VERSION
Since Cartoon Forum is going full digital this year, the pitches will no longer take place on site and can no longer be recorded from Toulouse, we therefore asked the producers to record their pitch themselves or to create a presentation video.
From 15 September, pitches will be placed on the digital platform per half-day following the already established agenda. The videos will be available until 15 October.
The pitching sessions will take place every day in 3 studios simultaneously. The aim of the pitching session is to enable you to present your project to all the broadcasters, financial partners and new platform representatives interested in your project, at once.
Your session will last no more than 20 minutes + 5 min at the beginning and at the end of the presentation to let people get in and out of the room (30 min in total). Save some time at the end of the presentation for questions or feedback from the floor (the chairperson will help you with this part).
New! Setting for the pitching session
As we have observed that the best pitching sessions are mostly done by people who leave their seat and stand up with the microphone in front of the public, the presentations will be done at a high table and without seats. This new setting was successfully tested during Cartoon Forum 2018 and will be implemented also at Cartoon Forum 2019.
The high table will give the producers the possibility to have their laptop or tablet and their written text, as usual. The goal is clearly to go for a more dynamic pitch and more entertainment: More emotions. Talk with conviction and enthusiasm.
This new setting was successfully tested during last Cartoon Movie and will be implemented also at Cartoon Forum from now on.
To be well prepared
Think ahead of time about:
- your project’s concept with the description of the characters and the storylines,
- your project’s graphics,
- the target audience,
- the negotiating rights,
- the production business plan,
- the budget,
- the state of advancement of the financial arrangements,
- very important: what you expect from the people attending your presentation.
Compulsory rehearsals for new producers
(new = producers who never pitched at Cartoon Forum, Cartoon Movie or Cartoon 360)
Producers who pitch for the first time at Cartoon Forum will have to arrive in Toulouse on Monday 14 September by 2pm to rehearse the presentation with the chairperson. We will communicate you online (Check-list) the exact time of your rehearsal early September. Please inform your co-producers, if any. Note that it does not replace the technical meeting.
In addition, to be fully prepared for your presentation and to avoid any technical problems, you will have a technical meeting on the day of your presentation in your allocated studio. The exact time will be communicated to you online early September (Check-list).
List of Attendees
We will scan the badges of the people entering the studio. The list of attendees will be given to your chairperson when the pitching session starts. You will receive a final copy after your presentation at the Extra Time corner and it will also be sent to you by email at the end of your pitching day.
