30 years of Cartoon Forum: you create, we connect!

Cartoon Forum started on Tuesday 17 September with the welcome words of Marc Vandeweyer, our General Director, followed by our main partners: Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse and President of Toulouse Metropole, Dominique Salomon, Vice-President of the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region Responsible of Culture and Heritage, and Tiphaine De Raguenel, Head of Young Audiences and Animation at France Télévisions. All Together, they officially launched the 30th Cartoon Forum!

France Télévisions officially announced the launch of “Okoo”, a new and unique global youth brand for the 3-12 year-olds. It will be deployed from the beginning of December on all France Télévisions screens, on both traditional and digital channels with a secure approach for the youngest and more open for the oldest thanks to an entry by profile.

This year at Cartoon Forum, 24 countries will be pitching their 85 projects to a record number of participants from 39 countries, which include more than 1000 producers, investors, distributors, broadcasters and new platforms.

The 30th Cartoon Forum is the year of Wallonia-Brussels: the Little Giants of Animation! Mrs Jeanne BRUNFAUT, Managing Director for Cinema and Audio-visual at the Ministry of Culture, took the floor to present the “Spotlight on Wallonia-Brussels”. For the fourth year, Cartoon Forum put the spotlight on a region. This year, Wallonia-Brussels, the French-speaking part of Belgium, will be in the limelight.

As Cartoon Forum is established in Toulouse (France - Occitanie, Pyrénées-Méditerranée) since 2012, it seemed to us right, each year, to put the spotlight on the animation of a “region of honour”, in order to keep the focus on the animation of a region, as was the case when the Cartoon Forum used to travel across Europe. Discover the strengths of Wallonia-Brussels in animation

The seven selected projects from Wallonia-Brussels are:

  • "Cander & Ladilash" by Waooh!
  • "Crystal Tales" by Squarefish
  • "Juliette & Jules" by Altitude 100 production
  • "Quinquin" by Beluga Jungle
  • "The Great Dreamscape" by Kwassa Films
  • "The Marsupilamis" by Belvision
  • "Toutmosis" by La Belge Prod

The participants discovered today the projects “Juliette & Jules”, “Toutmosis” and “The Marsupilamis”, they were able to get a taste of the quality of the Wallonia-Brussels’ style in animation.

We thank all our partners and wish to our fabulous participants a great Cartoon Forum 2019!
